Black a clear vets winner

The Cowra Golf Club conducted their Veteran's 9 hole stableford competition commencing from the first tee on Thursday, August 15, 2024 with 32 entrants, many of whom went on to play a further nine holes and compete in the Pro Comp 18 stableford event.

When the morning fog cleared the Golfer's had ideal weather conditions under blue sky to play their events on a well presented golf course.

The winner of the Veterans event was Lester Black who displayed a return of form after several weeks of disappointing results and increased Veteran handicaps, by winning the day with 23 stableford points, being a margin of five points ahead of the runner up James Paton.

Lester Black went on to win the Pro Comp 18 hole event playing off his official Golflink Handicap.

There were eight prize winners who are listed, with their Stableford scores and the Veteran's 18 hole handicap they played off:

These prize winners will have their Veterans 18 hole handicap reduced by three, the other entrants will have their handicap increased by one.

PRO COMP 18 HOLE EVENT

The Cowra Golf Club's Golf Professional, Tom Perfect's 18 hole stableford event, which is open to all ages, is run conjointly with the Veteran events, with all players using their Golflink handicaps.

Lester Black continued his good form from the first nine holes when he won the Veterans event, to produce 41 Stableford points over 18 holes playing off his Golflink Handicap, and finish three points ahead of the runner ups in the Pro Comp event, Christopher Doorey and Nicky Basson both with 38 points.

The prize winners were:

1st Lester Black 41.

2nd Christopher Doorey 38.

3rd Nicky Basson 38.

4th Robert Morgan 37.

These prize winners also go into the Pro Comp ball sweep, along with: Mark Young 36, David Gouge 35, Jefferey Marks 34, Jamie Judd 34, James Paton 34, Wayne Rodwell 33.

Hole 14 sponsored by Jamie Judd won by Alfonso Melisi - 348cm.

LADIES WEDNESDAY WINNERS

Winners of the ladies event last Wednesday, August 14 were Jo Bush with 36 points from Carmel Mansell 35 points on a countback from Sue Smith also on 35 points.
