All car enthusiasts welcome

The Lachlan Valley Social Motor Club is set to host the Australia Day 2025 Vehicle Display on January 26, at Bryant Park from 10:30am.

Club President Bryan Dawes, who has been there for seven years, expects the event to feature around 120 cars and bikes, despite facing challenges with publicity this year.

“We've got some really good cars and motorbikes on display,” Mr Dawes said.

“Last year we had 124 entries. I don't know how we are this year but I'm expecting up to about 120 cars and bikes.”

The event, which offers a relaxed and social atmosphere under the shade of the trees along the banks of the Lachlan River, has gained support from the Cowra Council and local visitor centers.

Mr Dawes acknowledged their contribution, saying, “council have been very good to us, really”.

“They’re supplying a free sausage sizzle for all the public.”

While publicity has been lower than in previous years, a recent social media push has helped increase awareness.

“It was only the other day that really hit Facebook fairly hard,” Mr Dawes said.

“One of our flyers is up on Facebook, and it’s gone pretty wide at the moment. That’s good. We’re hoping that'll get some sort of result.”

The Australia Day Vehicle Display is a significant event for Cowra, attracting motoring enthusiasts from surrounding areas and beyond.

“I think it's very important. It brings a lot of visitors to Cowra. We'll have cars here from Young, Grenfell, Cootamundra, and Boorowa,” Mr Dawes said.

Mr Dawes emphasised that the event is open to all car enthusiasts, not just those with vintage vehicles.

“It’s not only for vintage cars; it’s for any car enthusiast at all. Anybody who enjoys their motoring—we’d be most happy to have their car on display.”

Attendees can expect a laid-back day with a variety of vehicles on show, a free BBQ, and food trucks offering coffee and ice cream.

All vehicles must be entered by 11:30 AM, and each participant will receive a goodie bag.
