Adam Gambrill is back to coach Mens B Grade Soccer

After a hiatus from coaching, Adam Gambrill is back and ready to take on the challenge of leading the Men’s B Grade Soccer team in the upcoming 2025 season.

With a focus on recruitment and re-engaging past players, Adam aims to build a strong, cohesive team capable of enjoying success both on and off the field.

“Key priorities definitely would be recruitment at this point in time,” Adam said.

“Trying to add to the team they had last year, get a few more people involved, and try to put together a really good team so we can have a good year.”

Beyond performance, Adam highlights the importance of fostering camaraderie and a vibrant team culture.

“It’s about really bringing together a group of people who want to enjoy their soccer but also the social side of things,” he said.

“Getting together weekly for training, weekend games, and post-game meals and drinks creates that bond.”

For training, Adam emphasises fitness and clarity in communication, ensuring players understand their roles and responsibilities.

“I’ve always tried to instill a good base level of fitness,” he said.

“And just to make sure everybody knows their role on the field, what their position is, and what we expect from them.”

Challenges are expected, particularly in maintaining player numbers and commitment throughout the six-month season.

“Injuries and changes in circumstances can lead to a drop-off in commitment,” Adam said.

“That’s always a challenge for any amateur sport—keeping a strong squad together for the duration of the season.”

Adam’s approach is grounded in taking things step by step, starting with a strong preseason.

“I don’t get too Big Picture focused,” he said.

“To begin with, I just want to focus on having a really good preseason, getting a good group of people together, and building a base level of fitness.

“Then we’ll set clear goals as a team and work towards them.”
