Positive attitudes all round for Cowra Eagles

The Cowra Eagles First Grade Men’s team has kicked off their 2025 pre-season on a high note, with a strong turnout and positive energy marking the beginning of their journey.

Head coach Adam Meiklejohn expressed optimism about the team’s preparation, noting the promising attendance and attitudes at their initial sessions.

The team had an impressive start to the pre-season, with 30 players attending the first session on a Tuesday evening in January.

For this time of year, such a turnout is a show of the commitment and enthusiasm of the players.

“Really good roll-up on day one—about 30 players for our first session Tuesday night, which is fantastic for the start of January,” Meiklejohn said.

Training sessions are held twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, providing opportunity for the players to build on their fitness and skills as the season approaches.

Meiklejohn highlighted key objectives for the pre-season, emphasising the importance of fitness, skill development, and preparing players for the physical demands of the competition.

“Our focus in training is getting the team's fitness levels up to speed, basic ball skills, and then preparing their bodies for the full contact of the season that's coming,” Meiklejohn explained.

With the early start to training and the heat of summer, the players’ positive attitudes have stood out as a major strength.

“The positive attitudes have been impressive so far, given the heat and that we started so early. It’s been a really good, positive atmosphere for the club,” Meiklejohn said.
