Magpies wrap up 2024 season

The Cowra Magpies have wrapped a strong year and while the club may not have featured in as many grand finals as they would've liked there is no doubt they are looking strong and in good stead for 2025.

The Men's first grade side made it to the grand final qualifier only to be upstaged by little brother Canowindra in an encounter for the ages while the women's and league tag sides also had strong seasons.

Ricky Whitton led the side well and picked up the President's Award and Highest Points Scorer for the club while Emilie Browne and Phil Ingram Jr took points honours in the women's and youth leagues respectively. Browne also won the Edgar Newham Award for Highest Representative Honours.

Jake Slattery won the Most Promising Senior trophy while Jaylin Walford and Carla Hill took the same award in the 18s and Women's.

Henry Anderson (U18s), Danielle Spence (Women's League), Allie Meluish (Women's League) and Blake Duncombe won the Coaches' Awards.

Stephen Duffey got the nod for Club Person of the Year claiming the Ace McDonald Award while Skye Boswell-Webb was the Bobby Davis recipient for Committee Person of the Year for 2024.

In an award that took no one by surprise, Dave Duran won the John Roffe Shield for Hard Nut. Beau Smith was the Lunn Bros Most Improved in Youth League while Sienna Grant took the same award in the League Tag and Chris Miller in the Men's Seniors. Lilly Smith was Players' Player as she got the gong for the Sue McDonald Shield in a tight run race. Matt Kacarovski was the Gavin grant winner for Players' Player U18s. Mitch Hatch and Luke Kinsey shared the spoils with the same award in the Men's firsts. Kinsey was also the Dub McDonald Medal winner for Player of the Year in First Grade.

Noah Knight was Player of the Year in the Youth League and winner of the Shannon Boyd Medal while Lauren Wilson claimed the Sue Rodwell Medal for Player of the Year in League Tag. Congratulations to all the winners!

Don't forget that the AGM for Cowra Magpies Senior League is September 23 at Club Cowra from 6pm and the Cowra Junior League Presentation is October 8 at the Cowra Bowling Club from 7pm.
