Police have tried and tested a successful new method to crack down on unregistered motorcycle use across the region, seizing more than twenty bikes in recent weeks.
Chifley Police District Superintendent Darren Beeche said police had begun tracking unregistered motorcycles to their home address, using legal means to search the premises and seize illegal vehicles.
“We've been finding out where the bikes have been housed and finding a lawful reason to go in and seize those bikes and put them before the court for seizure,” Supt. Beeche told reporters.
“Over the last couple of years, we've had a real problem in in the Chifley police district in Bathurst, Lithgow and Cowra with unregistered motorbikes been ridden around with complete disregard to the law, to community safety, peace and wellbeing and putting the riders in danger,” he said.
“We found that these people, many of them are well entrenched in criminality. They’re not just kids looking for something to do.
