Junior golfers in Cowra are back on the course, with Term 1 clinics kicked off on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Sessions are held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:40 to 4:30 pm, offering young players the chance to develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Coach Tom Perfect is leading the clinics, focusing on skill-based activities and games tailored to different ages and abilities.
“Lots of games and fun-based skill activities, I guess, is the way to put it,” he said.

“Everything is for all ages and levels,
“If they don't have their own equipment, we can supply it, but it's also age-appropriate for the size of the child.”
The program covers key golfing techniques, including putting, chipping, driving, and using irons.
Tom emphasised that learning golf can be challenging, but starting young makes it easier to pick up.
“It’s not the easiest game to learn. Obviously, it’s quite a challenge for new golfers at any age,” he said.
A scholarship program, funded by the Australian Golf Foundation, is also on offer.
It provides six to eight girls with a year of coaching and club membership, along with opportunities to attend professional events.
“We generally take about six to eight girls, and they have one year of coaching and club membership,” Tom said.
“There are other opportunities for them to go and play or watch ladies' events and tour events in the country as well.”
Cowra Junior Golf has already produced talented players, including David Kang, a top-ranked junior golfer in the state.
“David has been with me for the last five or six years,” he said.
“He was ranked in the top handful for his age in the state,
“There’s also a young girl coming through, chasing him pretty close.
“She’s a little younger but starting to play in the same events as David,
“Hopefully, over the next couple of years, she’ll keep improving and reach a similar level,” Tom said.
