Dekota Hindmarsh, who initiated a calf day at the Cowra Show to promote youth involvement in agriculture, is using her new role of Cowra Show Society’s 2024 Young Woman of the Year to inspire others.
Having grown up on a dairy farm, Dekota’s passion for agriculture has been a driving force in her efforts to encourage younger generations to get involved.
“I've grown up on a dairy farm,” Dekota said.
The idea for the calf day came from her desire to highlight the importance of youth participation in agriculture.
"I started a calf day at the Cowra Show, so I entered to promote that," she said.
