They've been the best team all season and now it is confirmed - the Cowra Soccer Club Women's A Grade side is the best in the Central West after an emphatic 3-1 win over Orange last weekend in Orange.
Under enormous pressure before the game to keep their unbeaten run in tact, the side knew they were in for a match against Orange who had tested them previously in the season. Orange all season had been one of Cowra's biggest rivals for the title and they turned up to play going hard at the girls early before the class of Cowra began to shine through. Led by Courtney Booth up front, the side took control and never looked back, dominating territory and possession thereafter.
The 3-1 win caps an incredible run for the Mitch Thompson coached side and the future looks in good hands if the depth of talent on display is anything to go by.
In a double celebration for the club, Cowra Men's C-Grade team defeated Canobolas 4-2 in a gripping penalty shoot-out after scores were level at the end of extra time.
Michael "Gaffa" Starr was over-the-moon with his chargers after the shootout in a game that could've gone either way in regulation time.
