Squash Bronze for Cano High girls

The Canowindra Girls High School Squash team has claimed a stunning bronze at the NSW State Championships earlier this month.

Led by popular Mrs Cahill, the girls have gone from strength to strength breaking through for a podium finish against highly fancied Merewether High School based out of Newcastle.

Canowindra's and Western gold medallist, Elsey Watson, the number 1 seed in the side, was strong at the front as was the team effort from other squad members Scout Stacey, Lilian Harrison and Emily Thomas that also proved telling in the latter rounds of the championships. The girls continue to get stronger with each game and tournament.

Canowindra High had won 10 games to Orara High's 3, in Gunnedah back in August, clinching the win and a spot in the finals. The step up was obvious but the squad wasn't deterred, doing both their school and community proud. Congratulations on a tremendous achievement!
