After a huge Woodbridge Cup season, the creme de la creme of the Shire have come together to face the best of the rest in the Western Women's Rugby League Championships.

Woodbridge who are made up of players from Cowra, Canowindra, and other villages faced the all-conquering Mudgee Dragons WRL side in Round 1 at Cowra last weekend

The girls first up hit out over Mudgee saw them triumph 16-8 in a dogged affair that could've gone either way. For coach Jack Nobes, the win was a great start to the competition and sure sign the girls will be more than competitive this season.

Held over seven rounds, the competition is fast becoming one of the flagship events on the women's league calendar and a pathway to the WNRL for some.

Woodbridge are away to Castlereagh in Cobar in Round 2 before they take on Panorama in Round 3 at Grenfell and have the bye in Round 4. A tricky run home will see the girls take on Lachlan away in Round 5 then the Vipers in Grenfell again before an away game at Narromine against the Wiradjuri Goannas before the semi finals on November 9 and 10. The Grand Final will be held on November 16.
