Turnbull is Canola Cup’s golden girl

Only a week after claiming 2500 career winners, driver come trainer, Amanda Turnbull has won her third Canola Cup with short-priced favourite, Chart Topper in front of a vocal dedicated crowd at Eugowra Harness Racing Club last Monday October 7.

In a day that offered plenty of action , it was Race 7 Kriden Farms 2024 Canola Cup that everyone came to see after impressive heats last weekend. With Rocknroll Raider and Artemis Mission among the fancies, connections knew they would have their work cut out to win over the 2100 metre carry for the Cluse clan but Turnbull, fresh of a successful meet last week, didn't flinch as the popular horse continued his strong form.

On a track rated good, Chart Topper got faster each of the first three quarter splits in 29.9, 29.2 and 29.1 before finishing in 29.3 for a quick time of 2.34.8 to score by 1.4 metres and a half head. Kiwi charger My Ultimate Flynn was second while one of the pre-race favourites, Artemis Mission was third.

In another solid outing for the Turnbull's, Watchmedazzle claimed the eighth and final race of the afternoon, the TAB.com Don Tildsley Memorial over 1700 metres handsomely with Cassius Deck second and favourite, Allstarzz Frankie in third in a solid showing.
