Tigers wrap 2024 season

The Canowindra Tigers have wrapped their 2024 season with their annual presentation to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of players and staff. And while the club never won the big one, going down in the first grade grand final to Manildra Rhinos 20-4 at Peak Hill a month ago, all bodes well for another tilt at the holy grail in 2025.

Big award winners on the night were Alicia Earsman who was Club Player of the Year while Ronald Lawrence won Club Person of the Year and Best and Fairest in First Grade for a strong season. Laura Price was Best and Fairest in League Tag as well as top point scorer and try scorer while Cooper Scifleet was Youth League's Best and Fairest in a tight run race.

Bailey Kennedy won the First Grade Players Player, while Maddie Barrett won the same award in League Tag and Jonty Thurgate also picked up a Best and Fairest honour. Most Valuable First Grade Players were Brydon Hughes and Zac Hunt who were both worthy of the award after stellar years and Jack grant was the obvious choice for Best Defensive Player of the Year.

Kaiden Cole picked up the Youth League Coaches prize as Lillian Harrison was the League Tag Coaches Award recipient. Luke Watt won the Coaches Award for First Grade while Celeste Gavin was the League Tag Quiet Achiever winner. Nate Barlow was First Grade's Most Consistent as was Amy Harrison in League Tag. Luke Frendo took the same honours in the Youth League capping off a sensational season for the youngster. Holly Pull, Brock Burles and Wally Gaeta were Most Improved.

Rookie of the Year for League tag was no surprise with Laura Price claiming a fourth award for the evening while Eli Reid got the vote in Firsts and Ryan McKenzie in Youth League. Joe Treasure was the top point scorer for Firsts in a big year for the talented player, while Ethan Burling claimed the Youth League title.

Top try scorer in First Grade was shared between Nate Barlow, Josh Cooney and Nathan Whatman in a evenly contested category and Hugh Breen traded cricket bats for shoulder pads to claim the Youth League leading try scorer nod after a scintillating season.

A big congratulations to all the players and staff on a tremendous year and see you all in 2025!
