Ryan McKenzie has been announced as the captain of the Canowindra Tigers Youth League, stepping into the leadership role with a strong focus on persistence, teamwork, and success.
While surprised by the appointment, McKenzie acknowledged that he was one of the key players considered for the role.
“Kind of, but not really [surprised],” McKenzie said.
“But I knew I was one of the few who could get it.”
Determined to lead by example, McKenzie emphasised the importance of resilience on the field.

“Just keep going,” he said.
“Don’t stop once you're a few tries in.”
“Just keep going, get back up.”
His primary goal for the team is simple; winning, but he also values the camaraderie and connection within the squad.
“Winning is the goal, but becoming a mate, building that bond within the team, that’s probably the biggest part of it,” he said.
Balancing his role as both a leader and a player presents its challenges, but McKenzie is eager to foster a culture of skill development within the team.
As the new captain, he’s ready to give his best and lead the Tigers through the season with determination and teamwork.
