Canowindra Show 2024: A Weekend of Fun, Competition, and Community Spirit

The eagerly anticipated Canowindra Show is set to take place on September 27 and 28, 2024, promising an exciting weekend filled with activities, competitions, and community engagement. This year's event will feature a diverse range of activities, events and categories for participants of all ages, showcasing the best of local talent and creativity.

The Cobley Pavilion will be bustling with activity, hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary, who have introduced several new classes in the Home Mades and Craft sections. Entries are now open for a wide array of categories, and interested individuals can find detailed information and entry forms at the Canowindra Post Shop or online at Canowindra Show Website or Facebook page.

Here's a look at some of the exciting sections and categories:

Section O: Dairy, Fruit, and Garden Produce

This section offers categories for all ages, including creative challenges like making animals from fruit or vegetables, decorative carved fruit, and vegetable arrangements.

Section P: Home Mades

This includes a Special Fruit Cake category with a specific recipe, along with various age-specific categories for children.

Section Q: Quilting

Entries include hand-sewn or hand-quilted patchwork quilts. Be sure to check the conditions of entry.

Section R: Preserves

This section covers a variety of homemade preserves such as pickles, jams, jellies, marmalade, relish, chutney, mayonnaise, and conserves.

Section S: Needlework

This section focuses on hand-knitted items, including ladies' or gents' jumpers or cardigans, with all seams required to be hand-sewn.

Section T: Cut Flowers

An opportunity to display beautifully arranged cut flowers.

Section U: Fine Arts

All artworks must be completed within the last 12 months, be mounted and ready to hang. No copies or wet paintings will be accepted, and each exhibit must have a name on the back, as noted by Deb Rutter of the Canowindra Show Society.

Section Ua: Photography

For amateur photographers only, with all entries to be mounted on black cardboard, A4 size maximum, and framed photos will not be accepted. Entries should include the photographer’s name on the back, with a maximum of four entries per person per category. Novice entrants are those who have not previously won in the Canowindra PA&H Show Photography section.

Section V: Junior Art

School entries must be submitted by the Friday before the show to the Post Office. All other entries will be considered in the fine arts section. Artwork should be no larger than 30cm x 20cm (A4 size) and must be original. Name and school should be marked on the back.

Section X: Craftwork

All craftwork must be the genuine work of the exhibitor, created since the last show and not previously exhibited. LEGO and KNEX entries should be displayed in shoe boxes or similar containers.
