Funding continues for Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program

The NSW Department of Education has committed to continuing its funding for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program for the 2025 and 2026 financial years.

This decision comes as a relief for the program, which provides free books to 337 children in Cowra, helping to foster early literacy skills in the community.

The initiative has been centred in encouraging young readers, creating a strong foundation for learning that extends beyond the classroom and into homes.

Despite the program's success, it was faced an uncertain future due to funding challenges.

The continued support from the Department of Education ensures that this resource will remain available to families in the region.

The program helps to address literacy gaps by providing access to high-quality books, promoting a love of reading, and engaging children in educational activities from an early age.

A spokesperson from the Department of Education commented, “the department has committed to continue funding for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program for the 2025 and 2026 financial years, subject to a new funding agreement being developed with United Way Australia”.

“The department is meeting with United Way Australia this month to discuss this agreement,” they said, highlighting ongoing efforts to ensure the program's sustainability and growth in the coming years.
