Canowindra - What a Show!

The Canowindra Show has come and gone for another year and what a spectacle it was! From rides for the kids, through to the Cobley pavilion displays and action in the arena, it was a show to remember and one of the best since the pandemic.

Dr Ross Bullock officially opened the Canowinda Show for 2024 in front of a thrall of people who turned out to enjoy good food, great entertainment and a plethora of activities, competitions and displays.

There was the Young Woman and Rural Ambassador presentation that saw the Canowindra Senior Young Woman announced with Rianna Reeves crowned the best for 2024 while the Junior Young Woman for the year went to Bella Gordon in another exceptional field of entrants. The 2024 Rural Ambassador was a surprised Jacob Moriarty.

Other highlights included showjumping despite the earlier mixed weather and cattle judging while the animal displays were popular with children as was the farm dog trials and the dog high jump near the grandstand.

The Scarecrow Competition in the Burdett Hall drew crowds with Billiyara winning frommTracey Holmes and James Roberts while Canowindra Tyre Service won the crowd favourite award. As always the heavy machinery was popular as was the jillaroo and jackaroo finals with some more than handy bushies amongst the contestants.

There was even an appearance by politicians including MP Andrew Gee and National's candidate Sam Farraway and members of the new Cabonne Council.

From all reports it was exactly as a Show should be - plenty to see and do and lots of fun! Even if I did drop my fairy floss!

See ya next year!
