The Cowra Eagles Senior Women’s team is set to soar to new heights under the leadership of their new coach, Jamie Amos.
Stepping into the role for the first time, Jamie brings experience as a former player and captain for the Cowra Eagles, along with a fresh perspective and a commitment to the team’s success.
As a first-year coach, Jamie has set ambitious goals for the team, emphasising the importance of winning games and competing at a high level despite being from a smaller town.
“Our goal is to win games. We have high expectations,” Jamie said.
“We want to stir the competition up a little bit and make it more exciting.”
A defining strength of the team is the tight bond among the players, which Jamie sees as a cornerstone for success.
“I feel like our biggest strength is probably the tight bond amongst the girls,” Jamie noted.
“We really play for each other, and our defense is very strong. We’ve got some very hard-tackling girls among us.”
Jamie’s coaching strategy focuses on creating a positive training environment and refining techniques to prepare the team for a competitive season.
However, challenges remain, particularly the quality of the opposing teams in the league.
“Being from a smaller town, we’ve always got a challenge ahead of us, but it’s nothing we’re not willing to take on,” Jamie said.
For Jamie, success goes beyond the scoreboard.
She envisions a season where players grow both individually and as a team.
“I feel like this is going to be a really good year for the girls,” Jamie shared.
“Whether or not we win games, I just want everyone to have the best season they’ve ever had. I think it’s going to be a positive year, and people are going to come out as better players at the end of it.”
