Cowra’s newest hospital building finally has a roof, after construction began last winter.
The stunning images by Andrew Michael of Over and Above Photography captured the huge milestone at the Cowra Hospital, set for completion this year.
The more than $110 million project has been slowly and surely edging closer to its proposed opening date later in 2025.
“The people of Cowra can't get this quickly enough. I think both parties have done a wonderful job getting this going as quick as they have and the people of Cowra are really looking forward to it,” Mayor Paul Smith told the Cowra Guardian at an event marking the completion of the structural framework in December last year.
Upper house MLC Stephen Lawrence said the project was crucially supported by all sides of government, ensuring the best outcome for residents.
"This is an incredibly important project. 110.2 million dollars - not often does a community see this sort of investment,” he said in December. “The Cowra community is getting exactly what it needs and deserves, a modern, purpose built hospital that will serve it into the future for decades,” he said in December.
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, described the scope of the hospital as "transformative," last year.
"When completed, this state-of-the-art health facility will feature an emergency department, a general medical and surgical inpatient ward, a peri-operative service, a maternity unit with a dedicated nursery, ambulatory care, a dental clinic, renal dialysis, oncology services, the hospital’s first CT scanner, and Community Health and Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services," she said.
