The Central West Branch of the GW NSW have announced the winners of their HSC Scholarships for 2025 , judged on 2024 HSC Results and interviews. A morning tea was held to present the awards to the girls’ representatives. Also in attendance wads Cassandra Forbes who is the current GW NSW Joan Ritchie Scholar ,Stephen Kilner and Alyce Tree of the Country Universities Centre and School Principals Helene Hamilton and Michelle Deschamps.
Sally Delaney, Chairman of the HSC scholarship sub committee presented the GWNSW CW HSC scholarship to Meg Robinson, Deputy Principal of CHS, representing Kaili Buckley who is studying Bachelor of Med. Science – Radiography at Newcastle with the hope of returning to the country to practice in the future. Apart from being an excellent student Kaili was active in the community and in school life with her outstanding dancing being a major interest outside school.
The Club Cowra Scholarship was presented by Claudia Harrison, treasurer of Club Cowra to Michelle Deschamps , Principal of St Raphael's was representing Lucy Zhang. Lucy attended St Raphaels and is now studying Bachelor of Vision Science specialising in Optometry which she hopes to practice in country NSW. Apart from being the Dux of St Raphs, Lucy received many awards in the Diocese of Bathurst and worked after school in several jobs.
These two young women re very deserving of these awards and we wish them every success with their studies and their future plans. The committee of the Central West Branch is appreciative of the support it gains throughout the year, which enables the awarding of these annual scholarships to our local students.
