Rush to the back nine

On Thursday, August 8, 2024 the field of 32 veteran golfers played their nine hole stableford competition from the 10th tee.

The early starters commenced play when the ambient temperature was just six degrees under blue sky that prevailed made playing conditions pleasant for the day's event, on the Cowra Golf Course which was well presented.

Congratulations go to Mark Rush who won the closely contested event, on a countback from Bob Vidulich, both having 19 stableford points just one point clear of Tim Wood with 18 points, closely followed by five other players just one point behind.

There were eight prize winners who are listed, with their stableford scores and the Veteran's 18 hole Handicap they played off:

18 Tim Wood (33).

17 Peter Kirwan (+3).

17 Ron Newham (32).

17 Bruce Amos (34).

These prize winners will have their Veterans 18 hole handicap reduced by three, the other entrants will have their handicap increased by one.

The Cowra Golf Club's Golf Professional, Tom Perfect's 18 hole stableford event, which is open to all ages, is run conjointly with the Veteran events, with all players using their Golflink handicaps.

In a closely contested event, from a field of 34 entrants the result was decided on a countback to give the win to Bob D'Elboux from Peter Kirwan.

Both players finished with 37 stableford points followed by Joel Conron and Jarrod Wood with 36 points and their order of merit also decided on a countback, ahead of Bruce Amos also with 36 points.

The prize winners were:

1st Bob D'Elboux 37.

2nd Peter Kirwan 37.

3rd Joel Conron 36.

4th Jarrod Wood 36

These prize winners also go into the PRO COMP ball sweep, along with: Bruce Amos 36, Geoffrey Curtale 35, David Spolding 34, Colin Ridding 34, Wayne Howard 34, John Holmes 34.
