The Cowra Blues Senior Men’s team is kicking off the season with a fresh perspective, as Emma Nobes and Chris Day step into co-coaching roles.
For Emma, this marks her first experience as a coach, but she’s embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and a clear vision for the team’s future.
Emma aims to strengthen the team by recruiting new players and honing existing skills.
While she openly acknowledges her lack of coaching experience, she’s confident that collaboration with Chris and a focus on open communication will help build trust and support within the group.
“Honestly, communication is key. If there’s a problem, I’m honest and happy to work things out,” Emma said.
“It’s obviously a big deal coming in as a female without much experience, but I’m hoping to gain the team’s trust and show them I’m here to help.”
Emma recognises the challenges ahead, particularly in earning respect and finding the right balance in her approach.
“I’m learning how to get my point across without being too stern or over the top, and figuring out the best way to relate to the players,” she added.
Her goals are ambitious but grounded: bringing the team together, striving for a grand final win, and potentially advancing to tier one competition.
With preseason around the corner, Emma encourages anyone interested to come along and give it a go.
“If anyone’s thinking of trying out, we’d love to have you. Preseason will be starting soon, so get in touch with the club if you’re keen,” she said.
